Media's Double Standard

The story of Bill Cosby's past sexual harrassment activities is continuing to occupuy the main stream media so I looked at an earlier post on this blog concerning Bill Clinton's past activities visa a vie the opposite sex and found the Sunday, May 18, 2014 post about how the media aided the Clintons in making Monica Lewinski the villain.  Interesting to say the least, but yet another example of the media's liberal bias in covering all sorts of stories.  Bill Clinton is lionized to this day by the media and there is never a mention of what he did to the women in is life, he is the Champion of the left wing while Bill Cosby is now the villian and every women who comes forward is believed without question.  Clinton's victims are all liars and stalkers, while Cosby's are innocent virgins who never wanted anything but to be loved and admired by the great man.  I am in no way excusing what Cosby is alleged to have done, which if true, should make him a piria, I just want to point out what happens to anyone who crosses the leftist media in this country.

What do words mean?

What is the definition of war?  Does it only mean the use of ground forces, or does it mean the engagement of an enemy by what ever means necessary to achieve victory?  If it means the latter, we are at war with Islamic Terrorists in spite of the failure of our leader to use that term, or for that matter his failure to even identify the forces we are fighting.  The name of our enemy is ISIS, the key word in that identifier is Islamic.  Why won't our leader identify the enemy?  Is it because of his upbringing, the dreams of his father, or his fear of offending a group of people?  While we are on the subject of definitions, what does the phrase "Bring to Justice" mean?  Every time the Islamic Terrorists (there, I said it) attack and kill an American we are told the perps will be "Brought to Justice", but it rarely if ever happens, unless by bringing to justice we mean killing by the use of drones.  But in my dictionary that's not justice its retribution.

Sexual Harassment

Monica Lewinski is back in the news and it is now coming out that some in the media aided the Clinton's in making her the villain in the scandal that led to the impeachment of the President. http://washington.cbslocal.com/2014/05/16/letterman-i-feel-bad-about-my-role-in-humiliating-lewinsky/

Amazing how things turn around, I don't think that Clinton should have been impeached for  his affair and the cover-up that ensued, but he should have resigned or at the very least apologized for his actions and volunteered to enter sexual harassment training.  To this day Bill and Hilary act and talk as if Monica was the villain of the piece.  If what he did was not sexual harassment then the term has no meaning.  The fact that those in the media and others, some who call themselves feminists, defended him and continue to lionize him is the real tragedy of this whole episode.  Clinton's actions in this instance, and this was not the only such instance in his life, set back the cause of equality of women in the work place and led to an atmosphere where women continue to receive unequal pay and are derided if they act like men when they are put in positions of power, take note New York Times.

At one time I oversaw FOIA at a Federal agency, having to forward requests to the White House for review must impose a tremendous burden on both requesters and agency personnel.

I saw a breif mention of a Venezuelan skier who left the Olympics in protest over the represive regime in his native country so I looked for coverage of the protests in Venezuela in the Washington Post and had to leaf through to page A11 before I found the coverage.  Granted it was a half page article, but page A11!  The violence in the Ukraine got front page coverage and violence in Syria and Beirut were covered a paige earlier.  It led me to think about US media coverage of socialist regimes and the apparent, at least to me,  lack of critical comentary on governments in Cuba, Venezuela, and China, all socialist or communist countries.  Historically there is a pattern here I beleive, Walter Duranty of the New York Times covered the Soviet Union during the regime of Joseph Stalin and painted a glowing picture of the "reforms" Stalin was instituting in remaking the USSR into a socialist utipia.  His reports failed to mention the millions of Ukranians that were starved as a result of Stalin's efforts, nevertheless, Duranty was awarded a Pulitzer Prize by the US media elite.  Today Duranty has been discredited as a Stalinist lackey but the media establishment will not rescind his prize.  You don't have to look too deep to find praise of Mao, Castro, or Chavez by leftists media and entertaiment types, and it puzzles me no end how people living and prospering in a free society can fawn over repressive regimes.  Would Danny Glover be a millionaire if he lived in Venezuela?  How many journalists are in prision in Cuba and China, yet you rarely see mention of them in the media.  Instead we hear about normalizing relations with Cuba or how great their health care and educational systmes are, I guess that is why so many Cubas are smart and healthy living in poverty.  I simply don't understand the left's infatuation with the Soviet/socialist style government when it has proven to be so inept and represive.
Could this same paradime be causing the bankruptsy of American big cities and counties?

This does not make the NY Times look too good, and casts suspicions on why the Times would make such false claims favorable to  Obama and Clinton.

With all the coverage of same sex marriages and the mainstream media's constant campaigning for legalization I wonder why polygamy is so universally condemned by the same people, after all it is only cohabitation by consenting adults.
